Data Tools Overview

This article provides a summary of data tools in REDCap. Data tools are located within the ‘Applications’ section, found within the left-hand menu of your project. View a summary of these tools below.

Reporting

This module allows you to easily view reports of your data, inspect plots and descriptive statistics of your data, as well as export your data to Microsoft Excel, SAS, Stata, R, or SPSS for analysis (if you have such privileges).

Stats & Charts

Stats & charts are used to display project data in graphic plots and the descriptive status.  It is designed to assist in data cleaning and evaluation.

Data imports are useful when transferring data between REDCap projects, transferring data from the Electronic Health Record to a REDCap project, and when entering manually-collected data to a REDCap project.

Data Quality Module

Data Quality Module helps you quickly find discrepancies and errors in project data.

Data Resolution Workflow

A set of features which allows you to track changes to project data field by field (i.e. it provides documentation of changes made to a field). DRW is useful for clinical trials as it allows you to track changes for regulatory compliance.

Prepare your EHR data for REDCap Import

If your team would like to include EHR data in your REDCap project, you’ll need to either manually transcribe the data or request EHR data from the Electronic Data Warehouse (EDW) then prepare it for REDCap import.

File Repository

The File Repository can be used for storing and retrieving project files and documents (ex. protocols, instructions, announcements). If your survey utilizes the auto-archiver or e-consent framework, pdf copies of the instrument are saved here.

Logging

Used to view all occurrences of design changes, record creation, updating & deletion, user creation, record locking, and more.
